I have three sisters. Two live here and one lives in FL. The whole idea started out with a shopping trip and since it had been six months since we've see sis Shelly from FL. So I bought her a ticket and she was coming for the weekend. I was so excited!!!
On Thursday night , my sis Di came running in the house and headed straight to the bathroom. She was sick all night. An hour later and mom was sick too. What fun.
So all of our weekend plans with my sister Shelly coming in was suddenly up in the air. I was hoping and praying I wouldn't end up paying homage to the porcelain too.
Shelly flew in Fri morning and my bro Dan and I picked her up from the airport and went to my sis Lissa's house. We had breakfast at a cafe which both the girls use to work at. It was like a celebrity was in town. Everyone coming to our table and wanting to see my sisters. So funny. Then we went shopping and Dan tagged along. He was breaking up with his girlfriend so we bought him a couple of new things to ease the pain.
Went and saw Lissa's new house and had dinner with Dad that evening. It was so weird not having the rest of our family there.
Was back at Lissa's place and literally crashed till bout 9pm and then we headed back out and went to little bar close by. Couple of friends came up. Good times. All of us were wearing summer dresses since it was warmer during the day. We were freezing!
Saturday was shopping again (they were helping me spend my tax money!) and went to my aunts house that night for family get together. We stuffed ourselves and talked till round nine and then came back and watched a season of friends and drank wine. soooo tired.
Sunday we hung around the house and Shelly was finally able to see the rest of the fam since they were feeling better. The flight was delayed 3 hours so us sibs went to a mexican place. Had some STRONG margaritas. Yummy.
Dropped sis off at the airport afterwards and bawled my eyeballs out the whole way home. I miss her!

Sagging with Jersey
I was talking with a coworker the other day about spring and summer fashion. I must warn you that my sense of fashion has no sense of style at all. I run around the house in gym pants and XL sweatshirts during the winter and shorts and tank with flip flops during the summer. When I got out for the evening, I go the safest route and wear jeans with a black top and heels. The “safe” outfit might work once in a blue-blue moon but not every day. I want color. I want to draw outside the lines with style.
I’ve been drawing on the good sense of my coworkers who are a bit trendier and have asked for advice regarding this upcoming spring and summer. My wardrobe is beyond awful and I’m going to have to do some serious shopping soon. Tax refund!
Apparently jersey dresses are all the rage. They are very versatile, can be dressed up or down, and have COLOR! I need to get a few of them in different lengths and necklines. They also advised me to get a few flowy skirts. Flowy skirts with flats are cute, feminine, and pretty easy to mix and match. Will probably go to JCrew and Gap and mix and match according to what they advice such as what is on their models in the stores and on the websites.
My only problem with all this…jersey dresses tend to sag by the end of the day. By 4pm I will literally have room in that dress for two butts and not one. And then when it comes to flowy skirts, I feel very hippy.
Went shopping this afternoon and while I’ve started going tanning again, trying all those cute little summer clothes on made me very much aware of how white my legs are. I’m talking turn the lights off and you’ll see the glow of my legs. Going to have to increase the minutes in the burn bed and lay on some of that tanning spray to give me a heads start. I don’t tan my face. Just my body. I used sprays for my face. Don’t want the sun rays to give me more wrinkles under my eyes. I have enough of those already.

Best Gut Decision
I've been having sinus troubles for a LONG time. Couple of years to be exact. Finally found a great doc who after seeing me once and reading the long list of medications I've been on that haven't worked, she said I had the option of surgery. I took it and had the sinus surgery done about two weeks ago. I'm doing great and it ended up that I had a cyst blocking my sinuses. Best gut decision ever to have the surgery and no wonder all the medication I tried wouldn't work!
That day of the surgery was a day from hell. I asked my mom if I could just give up and die. I left the hospital after two hours of postop recovery and had just a small bit of bleeding from my nose. They gave me gauze and a strap to hold it in place. Good thing! Once I got home I was having to switch out the gauze every five minutes because it was SOAKED with blood. This lasted till about midnight that night. Between that and throwing up....I had enough and was ready to give up. Finally - after two rounds of anti-nausea medication - I quite throwing up, my nose stopped bleeding as badly, and I was able to fall asleep. I was so weak that day, every time I needed to get up and go "pay homage to the porcelain," my mom had to almost carry me cause I couldn't stand up on my own. Even sitting up on my own was exhausting.
But that was two weeks ago and except for having to pop tylenol every now and then, I'm doing great! No more sinus headaches. No more waking up in a fight of coughing at night. It feels sooooo good.

Post Turkey
I'm not out drinking or going crazy with friends. I'm here on the couch watching a movie and enjoying this small bit of time to myself. No one else is up or around.
Very happy. Very much stuffed with turkey.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Gotta love hot air
....balloons of course. =0)
The hotair balloon show is this weekend and I hope to see part of it! I'll probably miss the glow because of my brother's birthday that we're celebrating tomorrow evening. But I might be able to catch a bit of the race on Saturday.
The trip to see my brother was awesome. To be perfectly honest, the first two days sucked...but by then, all the ceremonial stuff was done and we finally got to be with my brother, spent time at the pool, went out on the town, and just enjoyed the "vacation." (Bro was graduating from the Army.)
Geering up for a fabulous weekend. We've had perfect weather and I hope to spend time with friends.

Hello to a new week
It's Sunday evening. My niece is crawing around with all her new toys strewn over the living room floor. Dad is watching National Geographic. I'm debating on whether to fix queso dip, and Mom is sick and sleeping in their master bedroom.
I feel like calling some of my friends and seeing if they want to go see a movie...and then I get a lazy feeling and change my mind.
This weekend was a whirlwind. One of my sister's came in town and it was my niece's first birthday.
Friday was a bit rough. It rained heavily all day and I was so soaked from running in and out of the weather for meetings that I was physically shivering and my shoes and pants were soaked. It was miserable, but I did laugh it off and run the bottom of my pants out. The guys handed me paper towels to dry off with as a joke.
Saturday began early with my sister's running around and cleaning up for the party. By noon, family and relatives were starting to arrive and my aunt and cousin made lunch and we sat down for a few minutes to regroup and get a second wind.
By 3pm, most everyone had arrived and the coffee table was overflowing and surrounded by presents.
My niece loved it...as much as one year olds can enjoy their first birthday! It was a huge success and everyone raved about the cake my sis made. Three tiered!

what to do with time!!!
I'm going insane. Not use to all this time. Don't know what to do with myself. Before I didn't have three seconds to think and now I have hours to spare.
I know things will come up and soon enough, and I will be wondering where all that free time went.
Hmmm...now - what to do?
